Teacher Executive Institute

​The Teacher Executive Institute was selected as one of the 100 Best Businesses - Education partnerships in the nation by the Partnership in Education Journal.  The Institute is recognized nationally in the Journal.
 
The Pitt County Educational Foundation has created a number of innovative programs for Pitt County Schools. One such program is the Teacher Executive Institute. The Institute provides an opportunity for teachers to learn management techniques and acquire leadership skills through their interactions with Pitt County businesses. Teachers, who are competitively selected to participate annually, spend a day in companies where they participate in seminars designed to strengthen their leadership and communication skills. Topics include but are not limited to; The Future of Leadership, Creativity and Innovation, Leadership, Successful Work Habits, Health Career Initiatives, Managing Diversity, and Interaction Skills. Participating businesses have the opportunity to meet outstanding educators and show their appreciation and support for excellence in education. Through the generosity of our sponsors throughout the years, 660 teachers have completed this excellent professional development since its inception in 1989. Past sponsors include DSM, Vidant Health, Grady-White Boats, Southern Bank, Greenville Utilities Commission, Penco Products, WITN, The Reflector, and Pitt County Schools. The Teacher Executive Institute Banquet, held each May, celebrates the accomplishments of these teacher leaders and provides an opportunity for our teachers to spend valuable time with our outstanding sponsors.
 
Certified Teachers, media coordinators, and school counselors are eligible to apply. Applications are due September 15th. Our T.E.I. Steering Committee consisting of T.E.I. Sponsors, PCS Administrators, past participants, and PCEF Board members will review all applications and choose 20 teachers for the Institute.

Sponsorship Opportunity
  • To provide a day of Professional Development of your choice for the T.E.I. participants.
  • Offer T.E.I. participants a light breakfast and lunch to celebrate them as professionals.
  • Engage the T.E.I. participants with a tour of your business facility/ community.
  • Contribute to the T.E.I. Banquet ($600) and attend the celebration with leaders from your organization.
